What is your current AYPO orchestra and ensemble?
AYSO
What AYPO ensembles have you played in and for how long?
AYSE (1 year), AYCO (1 year), AYSO (1 year)
Your advice for young musicians?
Play music that you enjoy. At the end of the day, music is about fulfillment, and not just for the audience. Let the music you play speak to you as a person and as an artist.
What college/university do you plan on attending this fall?
The University of Chicago
A favorite, or memorable AYPO experience?
When I was in AYSE (5 years ago), we played a selection of music from the score of "Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End," and I had a lot of fun with that. The concert recording is still on my playlist, and I can still remember my part.
What do you hope to do after graduation or your more long-term goals?
I'd really like to publish my book series someday.
What musician, conductor, or orchestra inspires you and why?
I connect very strongly to Adele's music. Not only do I like the way it sounds, but the lyrics speak to me as well. I've been a serious vocalist for four years; I take voice lessons, sing in a choir, and lead an a cappella group. I'd say I really do appreciate how powerful songs can be, and in particular, Adele's. One song in particular, "Skyfall," really inspired me, and drew me to her music in the first place. It's one of the reasons why I have such a strong connection to music today.
